The Brunei Lego Meet 2014 (formerly
known as Display at Mabohai Shopping Complex) was held over the weekend
from the 21st to 23rd March 2014. It was jointly organised by the
management of Mabohai Shopping Complex and BULAT, and included Blue Box
(Lego Mindstorms), Creative Arts (Lego Art) and Best Eastern (Lego
Books).
The times of the event were as follows:
Friday 21st: 2pm - 10pm
Saturday 22nd: 10am - 10pm
Sunday 23rd: 10am - 5pm
The
main attraction at the event was a Lego display organised by BULAT and
contributed to by 18 BULAT members. The display included various
sections dedicated to:
Lego Movie set Lego Friend
Lego Chima
Lego Star wars
Lego Creator
Lego Superheroes
Lego City/Modulars (with a cameo by Captain America)
Lego Architecture
Lego Hobbiton (Lord of the Rings)
Lego Spongebob
Lego Technic
BULAT also organised individual activities for each day of the meet.
On
Friday, there was an attempt at two speed build records with the
Parisian Restaurant. The times for the builds were as follows:
Team of 5 person: 1 hour 39 minutes 28 seconds
Individual build (1 person): 3 hours 53 minutes 40 seconds
The Parisian restaurants were then added to the display.
On
Saturday and Sunday, BULAT organised a polybag speed building contest.
Each participant were given a polybag to build in the fastest possible
time. The winners received Lego sets sponsored by Lego Community
Support.
Over the three days, there was also a
competition to spot 5 Lego Movie minifigures hidden in the display
area. Participants had to instagram their answers to BULAT from which
the winners were also awarded Lego sets as prizes, courtesy of Lego
Community Support.
Sunday also saw BULAT attempt to create a record for the total number of minifigures on display in Brunei. A total of 3610 minifigures were on display right in front of Starbucks. A total of 18 persons, including non-BULAT members contributed to this record.
The event received coverage in both the English dailies and on Radio Television Brunei.
